For Fred Frith, the guitar is only the starting point. It is a kind of user interface onto which he projects various ideas that expand the instrument’s sound through effects, noises, deconstruction, and reconstruction. Together with Cornelius Claudio Kreusch and Johannes Tonio Kreusch, he created pieces that crashed into one another like waves and flowed seamlessly together. Some passages had a meditative depth, developing through drone motifs and ostinatos. Others condensed into soundscapes, into sonic bodies that would explode or disintegrate again, only to transition into new constellations.
