American Psycho is the fourth studio album by the Misfits, released May 13, 1997 on Geffen Records. It was the first Misfits album recorded and released without founder Glenn Danzig, following a settlement that granted bassist Jerry Only and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. The album marked the arrival of new vocalist Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud, fusing the band's classic horror-punk foundation with a heavier, more metal-influenced edge.

Produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, King Missile) and mixed by Andy Wallace, American Psycho spawned the single "Dig Up Her Bones" and became the record that reintroduced the Misfits to a new generation, delivering fan favorites like the title track, "Hate The Living," and "Speak Of The Devil."
