Kyung Wha Chung/London Symphony Orchestra/André Previn - Tchaikovsky & Sibelius Violin Concertos (Decca Pure Analogue Series) [LP]

Kyung Wha Chung’s debut record, the coupling of the Tchaikovsky & Sibelius violin concertos, is widely regarded as a milestone album. In 1967, she won the Edgar Leventritt Competition with Pinchas Zukerman. This prize led to engagements in North America with the Chicago Symphony & New York Philharmonic. In 1970, she substituted for Itzhak Perlman with the London Symphony and soon after was signed by Decca as an exclusive recording artist. This 1970 recording of these two heavyweight concerti, recorded by producer Christopher Raeburn and engineer Kenneth Wilkinson in Kingsway Hall, propelled the then 22-year-old Chung onto the world stage. Decca Pure Analogue Series is mastered by Rainer Maillard and cut by Sidney C. Meyer at Emil Berliner Studios. Hand-numbered, limited editions, pressed on 180g vinyl in deluxe gatefold jackets. Only original analogue sources are used, and no extra devices are utilized in the signal pass.
