 Violinist Noriko Satomi, who has pursued jazz for 25 years since graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, has recorded her first recording of a collection of classical and jazz compositions. Featuring leading Japanese jazz clarinetist Eiji Taniguchi, this genre-bending tale of One Thousand and One Nights unfolds. The album
opens with the beautiful and sorrowful violin melody of "Scheherazade," followed by a Chick Corea-esque piano backing! Just
when you think it's "Habanera" from Carmen, the intro to a legendary jazz piece begins... The joyous melody of "Tequila" is joined by Beethoven's "Ode to Joy."
The swinging Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, commonly known as "Mencon," sounds like nothing more than jazz; "
Is This New Orleans? Dixieland Jazz?"; "The Swan," with its beautiful, floating rhythm of "Poinciana."
A total of 10 tracks have been reborn with groundbreaking arrangements that even the composer himself would be astonished.
