Ukraine Suites [LP]

Natalia Gordeyeva – Ukraine Suites [LP]

Born out of the war in Ukraine, Ukraine Suites brings together Danish composer Morten Jessen's two four-movement works for violin and piano, Kyiv Suite and Decency Suite. Jessen began Kyiv Suite shortly after the full-scale invasion, inspired by the city's defenders. Ukrainian violinist Natalia Gordeyeva found the piece online and heard her own story in it; their partnership led to benefit concerts and a tour of Ukraine, and encounters in Kyiv, Irpin, Bucha and Lviv inspired Decency Suite, music shaped by trauma, defiance, beauty and hope.

Gordeyeva, a pupil of Habib Kayaleh in the Menuhin tradition, was praised by Ida Haendel for her 'respect for the score'. Released on vinyl LP by OUR Recordings.

Genre: Chamber Music, Classical, Contemporary Classical.
