Originally recorded over a single weekend in December 1988 and released in 1989 on Metalcore Records, San Francisco thrashers Epidemic's The Truth of What Will Be never reached the audience it deserved due to weak distribution. It's nine tracks, packed into less than 23 minutes, are dense with ideas, attitude, and sheer sonic violence. What the album did accomplish, however, was firmly establish the band within the Bay Area scene. Epidemic carved out a sound entirely their own: the raw ferocity of Slayer's Reign in Blood colliding with the punk-infused chaos of Nuclear Assault and S.O.D., anchored by Mark Bodine's thundering, distorted bass and propelled by Fulli's uniquely venomous vocals.
