Tarabesque [LP]

Firas Zreik - Tarabesque [LP]

Firas Zreik's Tarabesque places the kanun at the center of jazz and Arabic ensemble settings. Vinyl LP.

The Palestinian composer and kanun player uses the plucked zither in a jazz quartet, a hybrid ensemble and an Arab takht setting. Maqam-based melodies connect traditional forms with improvisation and harmonic exploration.
