Luise Adolpha Le Beau: Symphony Op. 41, Piano Concerto Op. 37 & Overture Op. 23 [CD]

Oliver Triendl – Luise Adolpha Le Beau: Symphony Op. 41, Piano Concerto Op. 37 & Overture Op. 23 [CD]

Luise Adolpha Le Beau was one of the women composers the male musical establishment could not hold back. Born in Rastatt and a private pupil of Joseph Rheinberger in Munich, she built a career of growing ambition and wide recognition.

This portrait features a fresh, spring-like overture, the Piano Concerto with its enchanting slow movement and a finale that may nod to E. T. A. Hoffmann's Little Zaches, and the Symphony, whose Scherzo recalls the best of early Romanticism. Pianist Oliver Triendl leads the concerto. Single CD on cpo.

Genre: Classical, Orchestral, Romantic.
