Pianist, composer and bandleader Cecil Taylor's capacious and audacious originality reshaped twentieth-century music. Live at the KiMo Theater Albuquerque 1979 captures Taylor on November 20, 1979, during a rare tour of the American West with a then newly reconstituted quintet formation of his Unit, featuring violinist Ramsey Ameen, alto saxophonist Jimmy Lyons, bassist/cellist Alan Silva, and drummer Jerome Cooper. Presented in a 2LP heavy tip-on gatefold jacket featuring ink pigment and metallic foil stamping as well as a 12-page listening guide by Taylor scholar Ben Young.
