Joseph Kolkovich: Piano Works [CD]

Magdalena Bajuszova – Joseph Kolkovich: Piano Works [CD]

Joseph Kolkovich was born in Slovakia in 1957, spent a decade as a rock keyboardist in California, then found his way back to classical music, bringing both worlds with him. This first album of his piano music pairs two shorter, atmospheric pieces with his epic First Piano Sonata, almost an hour long, a chronicle-in-sound inspired by the victims of Argentina's military regime and the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo.

Pianist Magdalena Bajuszova tackles its explosive fast movements and tragic laments on a single CD from Toccata Classics, the label for adventurous listeners hunting unknown repertoire.

Genre: Classical, Contemporary Classical.
