Johannes Brahms: Symphonies 1–4 [2CD]

Erik Tuxen & Danish State Radio Symphony Orchestra – Johannes Brahms: Symphonies 1–4 [2CD]

Danish conductor Erik Tuxen leads the Danish State Radio Symphony Orchestra, then one of Europe's leading orchestras, in all four Brahms symphonies. These previously unpublished radio performances from 1949 and 1951 open Danacord's look at Tuxen, a figure in postwar Danish musical life alongside Launy Grøndahl and Thomas Jensen.

Tuxen was the only one of the three to build a real international career: he recorded for Decca and guest-conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra and other orchestras across the Americas and Europe. This release presents his Brahms cycle across two CDs, a valuable addition for collectors of historical orchestral recordings.

Genre: Classical, Orchestral, Romantic.
