Filling Your Silence [LP]

J.D. Slater – Filling Your Silence [LP]

J.D. Slater, sometimes called "the Lou Reed of gay porn", came up through the New York punk scene, where his band Frenzy opened for Talking Heads and Blondie at CBGB. In 1999 he co-founded Raging Stallion Studios with Chris Ward and went on to act, direct and compose for the studio.

Filling Your Silence, from 1999, was his debut as a composer, collecting the soundtracks to Raging Stallion's first two films, Sexpack One and Sexpack Two. Its nine tracks of sleazy beats and trance-like grooves open with "Seduction", which starts on that classic 90s synthetic pan flute and breaks halfway into a jazzy electric piano vamp. "Running With Scissors" kicks up the tempo with crunchy breakbeats, while "Mercy" leans toward the bleep sound of early Nightmares on Wax and 808 State.

Pressed on black vinyl, it comes with a one-sided insert of archival Raging Stallion press materials.
