Etudes [Transparent Red/Black Vinyl LP]

Charlie Haden - Etudes [Transparent Red/Black Vinyl LP]

Etudes is a 1987 trio session led by bassist Charlie Haden and drummer Paul Motian with pianist Geri Allen, first issued by Soul Note in 1988. Haden and Motian set up the date to feature Allen after her work in Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra. The program covers Ornette Coleman's "Lonely Woman," Herbie Nichols' "Shuffle Montgomery," and originals from all three, including Allen's "Dolphy's Dance," Haden's "Sandino" and Motian's two etudes.

This reissue in the Gems For Jazz Heads series is a 180g One-Step pressing on transparent red/black vinyl, numbered and limited to 1,000 copies.
