Estudando o Samba [LP]

Tom Zé - Estudando o Samba [LP]

Estudando o Samba ("Studying the Samba") is Tom Zé's 1976 concept album and one of his finest, featured in Rolling Stone Brazil's list of the 100 greatest Brazilian albums. A post-Tropicália studio experiment, it deconstructs the samba with layers of hypnotic percussion, effects and samples. David Byrne found it in Rio in the late '90s and used several of its songs on his Luaka Bop Tom Zé collection, reviving Zé's career. Reissued by Mr Bongo.
