Barking Dog's Elements EP is the culmination of a years-long musical journey born from shared passions, deep friendships, and the spirit of collaboration. The band features Jack Irons (known for his work as a drummer with Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers), Anthony LoGerfo (a seasoned drummer and musician best known for his time with the rock band Eleven), and Micah Nelson-a versatile musician, artist, and songwriter best known for his work with the band Particle Kid, which he formed in 2013. Micah, the son of legendary country musician Willie Nelson, has contributed to countless musical projects, both as a solo artist and collaborator. Together, they unite through a mutual love for rhythm, Neil Young, and, of course, dogs. Their friendship began in 2016 at Ohana Festival, where Jack and Anthony first connected after Jack's performance. A conversation that spanned everything from Joe Strummer and mental health to California and rhythm sparked a bond that would lead to many musical ventures down the line. Anthony, with his extensive experience in the music scene-from his work with Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Kyuss) to Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)-brought a distinctive energy to the collaboration, grounding it in his years of playing alongside notable musicians. After a few years of connecting on tour, playing together, and sharing their stories, Jack and Anthony decided to collaborate. Their first steps were to lay down rhythms-double drums and percussion-that formed the foundation of what would eventually become Elements. Anthony recorded four ''Meditation grooves'' at Seven Mt Studios, which Jack then enhanced with his experimental percussion work. Micah's contribution brought his signature magic to the music, sending it into new, expansive realms.
