Anna Domino - East And West + Singles [LP]

Anna Domino's 1984 debut East And West is a cult classic of '80s avant-pop. After settling in New York's Lower East Side in 1977, sharing the neighborhood with Brian Eno, Talking Heads and Laurie Anderson, she sent a self-recorded cassette to the Belgian label Les Disques du Crépuscule, which gave her studio time and the result was this record. Pitchfork later called it "The Velvet Underground & Nico of avant-pop."

Originally a five-track mini-album featuring the cult favorites "Land Of My Dreams" (an Aretha Franklin cover) and "Everyday, I Don't" (later covered by Clairo), the reissue pairs the original tracks with key singles from the period. Anna Domino has since become a touchstone of minimal pop and cold wave, cited by HTRK, Carla Dal Forno, Astrid Sonne, Horsegirl and Smerz.

This Domino reissue features new liner notes by Shaad D'Souza, plus newspaper clippings and photographs from Anna's personal collection with her own captions, documenting her time in New York City and Berlin in the '80s.
