Ari Bald & CJ Scott - Colombiance [12"]
Stockholm house mainstays Ari Bald & CJ Scott return to Studio Barnhus with Colombiance, their fourth EP for the label. "Trippin' Totems" opens in suggestive, hypnotic mode, rolling forward on layers of percussion and a groove that seems to tighten the longer it runs. "Coral Capers" brings the piano to the party, bright and buoyant on the surface with just enough melancholia underneath to keep things interesting. "Mole Patrol" picks up the pace considerably, a chugging and increasingly intense workout built for peak-time deployment, before "Baobab Bonanza" closes proceedings in more spacious fashion, with great waves of sound washing in and out over a floaty, rolling house groove.
