Macklemore gets personal on BEN, his third solo studio album and one of the Seattle rapper’s most introspective releases. BEN moves between upbeat pop and old-school hip-hop, opening with the anthemic “CHANT” featuring Tones and I before moving through highlights including “NO BAD DAYS,” “1984” and “MANIAC” featuring Windser. The album’s darker, more reflective side emerges on songs such as “DAY YOU DIE,” “TEARS,” “GOD’S WILL” and “FAITHFUL,” while “HEROES” finds Macklemore teaming with legendary producer DJ Premier.
