Bamboo [CD]

Minoru Muraoka - Bamboo [CD]

A Japanese jazz and breakbeat rarity prized by DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist and Egon. Minoru Muraoka plays the shakuhachi, a traditional bamboo flute, with a band on koto and tsuzumi drum, blending traditional Japanese instruments with Western jazz in his "shakuhachi jazz" sound. It mixes covers of jazz and pop standards like "Take Five" and "Scarborough Fair" with two originals. Reissued by Mr Bongo.
