Augen is the latest in Wergo's series devoted to Enno Poppe, born in 1969 and now one of Germany's most internationally recognised composers. Its four works, written between 2016 and 2022, carry titles that translate as Eyes, String, Screws and Peat: a song cycle for soprano and chamber orchestra, a violin concerto, a percussion piece for thirteen players and a large orchestral work.

Together they move from language to pure sound, melody to rhythm, and rhythm to massive orchestral force, with soprano Sarah Maria Sun at the start of the journey. Single CD.
