Alpha And Omega [LP]

Phil Flowers & His United Family - Alpha And Omega [LP]

Alpha and Omega is Phil Flowers' unusual psychedelic funk concept album from 1973, first conceived as a musical play. It retells Genesis, from creation and Adam and Eve through temptation, prostitution, abortion, redemption and the apocalypse, and holds it up against the social issues of its time.

Gospel-rooted vocals collide with heavy funk, wah-wah guitar and psychedelic effects, making for a strange, urgent piece of early-'70s Black independent music. Pressed on black vinyl LP.
