Afrikaan Beat / My Satisfaction [7"]

Lester Sterling & The Paragons – Afrikaan Beat / My Satisfaction [7"]

An addictive, super-catchy Studio One instrumental led by saxophonist Lester Sterling, a founding member of The Skatalites who recorded extensively for Clement Dodd. "Afrikaan Beat" was originally recorded by German bandleader Bert Kaempfert and draws on South African kwela; Sterling's 1969 version turns it into a Jamaican dancefloor staple.

The flip is The Paragons' killer rocksteady side "My Satisfaction". Original Studio One pressings fetch big money, so this Soul Jazz Records 7" reissue is the easy way to get both tunes on wax.
