African Challenge [7"]

Zoot Simms & Sound Dimension – African Challenge [7"]

A stone-cold Studio One roots classic from vocalist and percussionist Zoot "Scully" Simms, singing righteous lyrics over the "Is It Because I'm Black" rhythm. First released as a very rare Studio One 45 in 1972, it later appeared on Soul Jazz Records' Studio One Roots compilation.

The flip carries Sound Dimension's wicked dub version of the same rhythm, stripped down to drum, bass and echo. This Soul Jazz Records 7" puts a moody roots monster and its dub back into circulation for DJs and collectors.
