Three of his classics arrive in 4K: Pigs and Battleships, a vivid portrait of life around a U.S. naval base; The Insect Woman, which introduced the fiercely resilient Imamura heroine and broke every rule for how women were shown in Japanese film; and Intentions of Murder, which perfects that portrait on an epic scale.

The set also includes Imamura's rarely seen first three features: Stolen Desire, following a rowdy traveling theater troupe; Nishi Ginza Station, a tale of infidelity told as a musical; and Endless Desire, in which ex-soldiers dig for buried wartime loot.
