Tommy Oeffling - Neighbors [LP Brown Vinyl]
Tommy Oeffling’s neighborhood is bustling with stories if you know where to look. On the western edge of Milwaukee’s downtown area rests Avenues West, a one-mile-wide stretch of the city largely dominated by his fellow Marquette University undergraduates and city workers who want easy access to the center. Tucked away between the late-night diners, fish fries, and a Gilded Age house-turned-museum owned by the hoppy Pabst family are the everyday people Oeffling couldn’t stop thinking about as he prepped his eighth full-length album. It’s in this neighborhood that Oeffling quietly made a name for himself without his actual neighbors knowing. He self-released seven albums by age 20, beginning in high school. Over the past few years, the singer-songwriter has unwittingly accrued a massive following through word of mouth, DIY touring routes, and online playlists, not unlike Alex G a decade ago. A quarter million monthly Spotify listeners slot his folk and indie rock songs into playlists for derealization, 3 a.m. zoneouts, and “sad TikTok songs.” Considering his music sounds like the late-night musings of Sparklehorse, The Radio Dept., and Greg Mendez, it’s a testament to the overarching mood of his music as much as it is his listeners deep connection with his songwriting. Neighbors, arrives October 30, 2026, following a 19-date US headline tour and marking Oeffling's first release in partnership with the independent label 22TWENTY. Expansive and emotionally charged, Neighbors pushes beyond the boundaries of indie rock, pulling together moments of noise, melody, tension, and vulnerability into something uniquely Tommy Oeffling. The result is a record that feels both immediate and enduring, the kind of album destined to live loudly in bedrooms, garages, cars, basements, and headphones for the next generation of American youth.
