Los Belkings - Los Belkings [LP]
- Available on black vinyl - Perus first all-instrumental band - Anchored by Raul Herreras unique vibrato and Willy Sandovals second guitar Los Belkings emerged during the British Invasion transformation, capturing Perus fascination with rock instruments. In 1966, they became Perus first all-instrumental band. Group, inspired by The Ventures and The Shadows. Founding member Raul Herrera formed the group in response to the wave of rock that was sweeping Lima, blending surf and rock sounds that were bucking trends. Managed by disc jockey Gustavo Galliani, Los Belkings secured a deal with the El Virrey label. Their unique lineup, including guitarist Willy Sandoval and bassist Jerry Lam, resonated with Peruvian youth, particularly within the Cantonese community, marking them as a revolutionary force in Peruvian rock history. Los Belkings were a groundbreaking band in South American instrumental rock, blending surf, garage, and easy listening over six years and five albums. Their debut LP mixed original compositions and covers of global hits like Tema par jovenes enamorados and Autopista, reshaped with a Peruvian edge.
