Gloin start off All of your anger is actually shame (and I bet that makes you angry) with a nifty industrial backbeat, introducing a new sonic palette, in turn embracing their penchant for highly-saturated tones and synthetic textures, while retaining their signature electric sound over 12 relentless tracks. Throughout the album, manic yet endearing vocals depict a shared struggle via clever if mercurial songwriting, the four-piece slashing through anxiety and gloom with noisy pop songs delivered in the most brazen, harsh and loud of ways. The title for Gloin's sophomore full-length is, in itself, quite loaded, brashly setting the tone for an intense listening. Ironically though, the album is actually a vibrant, uplifting listen packed with high-energy bangers that drip with gritty satire. Past a fierce facade, we are treated to a deeply emotional and strikingly energizing lyrical universe that does well to balance healthy paranoia and asserted commentary. Whether digging into childhood trauma, shame or self-doubt, questioning the daily grind, public standards and tech/electronics, or more broadly pondering about existence itself, the album ends up feeling much like a brutal but most-welcomed therapeutic musical onslaught.
