[LP Colored Vinyl Tx30 Special Edition Booklet]\u003c\/h2\u003e\nThey came from some of the most popular, if\nnot polarizing hardcore bands of the early ’90s\n(SHELTER, 108, RESSURECTION), but by the\ntime TEXAS IS THE REASON formed in 1994,\na new aesthetic crystallized almost instantly\nand reduced its members’ previous efforts to\nhistory. Indeed, it was only a year later when\nRevelation Records released the band’s selftitled EP—their name derived from a lyric in\nthe MISFITS song “Bullet”—that TEXAS IS\nTHE REASON were already headlining their\nown tours in America and well on their way to\ndefining a new moment in post-punk.\nIn April of 1996, the band reinforced that\ninitial success with their first and only album,\nproduced by JAWBOX’s J. Robbins and\nnamed after the last words that John Lennon\nwas alleged to have heard: Do You Know Who\nYou Are? In the years since, Spin, Alternative\nPress, and Paste would all go on to call Do\nYou Know Who You Are? an essential ’90s\nalbum. Unfortunately, after a year of heavy\npromotion and touring for the record, innerband tension came to a head, and TEXAS\nIS THE REASON officially split in 1997. Its\nmembers would go on to play in JETS TO\nBRAZIL, NEW END ORIGINAL, ATLANTIC\/\nPACIFIC, and THURSDAY.\nSince then, the band has only reunited in 2006\nfor two sold-out shows in New York, and again\nin 2012 for sold-out shows in both NY and LA.\nNow the band is playing shows again with lots\nmore planned. Newer generations of bands like\nSPITALFIELD, INTO IT. OVER IT., TRANSIT,\nand STEPHEN BRODSKY (of CAVE IN) have\ncovered TEXAS IS THE REASON songs over\nthe years, and even now, marquee acts like\nDASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL, TAKING BACK\nSUNDAY, and FALL OUT BOY have all publicly\ncited their influence.\nTEXAS IS THE REASON Do You Know Who\nYou Are?: TX30 Special Edition LP is the\nsecond of three releases to mark the 30th\nanniversary of the band and its landmark\nalbum. The original recording, produced by\nJ. Robbins and mastered by Vlado Meller,\nhas been cut using the current direct-to-metal\nmastering for a clear, loud rendering of the\nalbum. The package includes an eight-page\nbooklet with many photos never published\nbefore.\nThese TX30 special-edition pressings will\nchart the band’s three chronological stages\nacross three intentionally prepared 12”\nrecords—from their earliest recordings to\ntheir debut album to the band’s final three\nsongs, written for and originally conceived\nas the beginning of a second album that was\nnever completed before their 1997 breakup.\nEach release will include expanded art and\nbooklets featuring never-before-seen photos,\nflyers, and other means of telling the band’s\nstory.
