When Roberta follows the trail to Manhattan, a bump on the head leaves her with amnesia and everyone, from a mob hitman to a charming projectionist (Aidan Quinn), convinced that she is Susan.

Susan Seidelman's sparkling screwball comedy is a time capsule of 1980s downtown New York cool, from thrift-store style to the club scene, and it helped launch Madonna from pop star to icon, with "Into the Groove" pumping through the Danceteria scene.
