The Close-Up series, begun in 2010, saw Suzanne Vega re-record songs from her back catalogue in intimate, stripped-back arrangements and regroup them by theme across four albums, so listeners could hear them away from their original productions.

This volume revisits her most haunting songs, which she once called her 'mental health songs', such as 'Penitent' and 'Cracking'.
