For twenty years, Marc Mac’s Black History Soundbite Series has existed somewhere between all three.\nBeginning in 2006 with “It’s Right to Be Civil”, Marc Mac quietly embarked on what has become one of the most original long-form projects in contemporary independent music. Conceived not simply as albums but as audio documentaries pressed onto vinyl, each release combines original production with carefully curated speeches, interviews, broadcasts, and historical recordings, transforming fragments of Black history into immersive musical journeys. When Marc set out on creating the series he couldn’t imagine how important it would have become today in a time where some institutions are masterminding plans to suppress black history.\nAcross six volumes (“It’s Right to Be Civil”, “Extend the Knowledge”, “Message From Soulville”, “Generation X”, “All Power to the People”, and “The Invisible Soldiers”) the soundbites drop names and instances that allow the listener to explore further. Rather than sampling history for effect, Marc Mac built beats around it, armed with a sampling drum machine (MPC) and Logic Pro, every beat serves the narrative. Musically, the series is unmistakably Marc Mac in his beat mode. Boom Bap, Jazz, and Soul.\nA mixtape aesthetic remains central to the project. The sequencing is equally important, every transition is intentional like discovering a carefully crafted mixtape from a trusted selector. What makes this series remarkable is its refusal to separate education from musical enjoyment. Knowledge isn’t presented as obligation but as rhythm.\nCollectively, the six albums form a single body of work; a living archive told through beats and voices. They remind us that history is never silent; it simply waits for someone willing to listen. For Marc Mac, this series has never been about nostalgia. It is about preservation, connection and passing knowledge from one generation to the next.\nAs the needle drops twenty years after “It’s Right to Be Civil” first introduced this vision, the invitation remains the same. The voices are still speaking, black history is not to be forgotten.\nFull continuous play mixtape style remastered.\n,\n1. All Power To The People (full mixtape style)\n2. Intro Peace\n3.
