Known for his fusion of Latin American folk, organic electronica, dub, field recordings and natural sound, El Búho’s new album explores these influences through the lens of home.\nWhile Hogar translates to home in Spanish, it is a word that goes beyond a physical place. Rooted in the Latin word focāris, meaning hearth or fire, hogar evokes family, belonging, shelter, intimacy and the sense of feeling safe somewhere in the world.\nFor Robin, the album grew out of the experience of building a home with his family in France, while also reflecting on migration, displacement and the climate crisis. It is a meditation on what home means in a world where so many people are forced to leave theirs, to create a home somewhere else or to search for belonging.\nThe album is built around a series of found sounds, recordings of Robin’s home life, recordings on the road, of islands, of meetings with friends over food and tea. Underpinning each track is a texture that grounds it in a place or a memory.\n\nHogar shows the growth and maturity in El Búho’s sound, fusing Latin American music with texture, electronica and found sound in a moving new way.
